Religious Rhetoric

I’ve shed many tears over the years I spent inside this criminal convent

And through it all, I stepped up to the call and stayed relent-less.

Senseless killings and shady dealings, Lord willing,

I will stand and boldly fight these feelings.

Head pointed towards the ceiling, prayers ripped from my soul.

The reaper’s hand is on my shoulder, why’s his fingers so cold?

I was told to hold on but then they slathered my palms

With oil from the devil’s soil, and I’m supposed to stay calm.

No harm in turning on the charm, sweet talk my way in to Heaven.

Baptized in liquified lies, on bad terms with the Reverend.

BUT check me out, I turned those 6’s in to 7’s, traded my horns for a halo.

They say the streets are paved with gold, so how could I say no?

Created in his image, I guess I’m spiritual Play-Doh.

Flesh and bones, but I was shaped and molded like clay though.

I went from a peso to a dollar and change.

Reached for Heaven and even though they said it was out of my range,

I will keep fighting because I know my Lord will never erase me off his page…

Oh, God!!!

Since the beginning of time we have argued, fought and killed nations of people over a simple concept called religion. We have gone to war over religion. Generations of people have been wiped out over religion. Civilizations put to the knife and enslaved over this thought and calling of their ‘God”. When we finally realize that we are praying, worshipping and giving benediction to the same deity, will this problem go away? Most likely it won’t.
Every group of worshippers wants to be right. They want to hold their belief and systems over every other group. The simplicity of one god would take the complexity out of our lives. The assertion of one god leads denial of complexity, encouraging us to make the world simple. It is not the fault of our god, but the crime committed by the believers. Thus comes the existence of many gods, conveying true complexity of mortal life and the chance for one to dominate the next.
God has many faces and also many names, we can try to fool ourselves but the truth is before our eyes. Every race, tribe, village, country and continent prays to the same god; all different but the same. All these gods are aspects of the one true God. But, all these believers are convinced that their version is the correct one. All these magnificent, Holy books agree on nothing, but carry similar stories purporting the word of one God.
I try not to get caught up in who is and what is what but I DO know this, I feel for what our God has to go through. Imagine it, listening to billions of people’s prayers. Witnessing the masses kneeling in our Gods name but not believing the same thing. I probably would create many names and faces for myself so I would be less burdened too.
God is all knowing and now I believe, He is more intelligent than we can ever be. If one group of people actually knew or served the one, true God, wouldn’t his worshipers hold dominance over all? Hence, we fight and keep the lie going “O’ ye of little faith”!!!

The Power Within

Marinate and masticate on this knowledge that I feed.
Know thyself is really the only college you need.
Life lessons being cooked in the pot of your soul.
Hope you get the picture before you’re sent to rot in a hole.
Awaken parts of your brain that remain unused.
Putting pieces back together that had come unglued.
Recognize and realize the potential you harbor.
I know you’re tired, but you can go a little farther.
Put your doubts and insecurities inside of a box.
Close it shut, seal it tight and deadbolt all the locks.
What’s inside of you is true, if only you believe.
Dig deep within yourself and see what you retrieve.
You can create love or hate; choose joy or depression.
Look at the glass half full without a thought or a question.
That’s the beauty of existence; free will is a given.
If you don’t like your situation, then change how you’re livin’.

“For indeed, the Kingdom of God is within you.” – Luke 17:21
