Missouri

We concentrate on the problem but never the solution.
Leaving things open ended, never coming to conclusions.
Big Hero 6’ing, trying to sound amazing when you are only amusing.
Thinking you’re pin pointing the issues while you’re only pointing fingers; accusing.
I need action, words mean nothing to me.
Was born in Texas, but today, I’m from Missouri.
We say we want better but do nothing to get it.
Scream we’re for the movement but when it stalls, we quit it.
Tired of listening to your spiels on the struggle when you spit it.
Because when it calls for your participation, you aren’t with it.
Brother please, you’re no activist to me.
I once lived in Virginia, but today, I’m from Missouri.
Seen and heard it all from you wannabe’s, all you do is talk.
When the path is traveled, you silently walk.
And that’s why many of you end up outlined in chalk.
Tried to run before you even crawled or walked.
All I’m saying is “wake up”, if you want to impress me.
Dallas is my city, but today, I’m from Missouri.
Wondering why I say I’m from Missouri, because it’s the show-me-state.
I don’t like chatter, it’s time for us to demonstrate.
We’ll never get anything by just debating and sitting around.
Time to physically move, putting something down.
Even when the situation is black on black, instead of black and white.
We should be ready to march, speak and sacrifice.
Actions speak louder than words, keep the talk, don’t bore me.
Until you all are ready, I’m from Missouri. Show-me!!!

Texas, It Is Time For Change…

In the State of Texas, jail is a big business and the great state loves to lock people up…and for a long time, I might add. Many people that are serving life sentences are first-time offenders. It has been said that young people, especially males, do not reach a full level of maturity until they are at least 25 years old. Look at car insurance companies; the rates are higher until you reach 25, right? Is it possible this is because these young people have more accidents? Could it be that these young people do not demonstrate responsibility? Although these emerging adults make poor decisions, most of the time, they mature and learn to make conscious decisions. A United States Department of Justice report states, “Many juvenile offenders do not continue their law-violating behaviors into adulthood”. This statement alone, proves that young people are not mentally mature enough to make sound decisions, but as they get older, they change.
Ms. Edna Watts is a concerned mother of a son who is currently incarcerated. He was sentenced to 99 years in prison for aggravated robbery when he was 19 and this was his first offense. Although he has matured, is a Christian mentor to his fellow inmates and is a certified paralegal, he is not eligible to apply for parole until he has served at least half of his sentence. Texas does not consider good conduct time, work time and flat time credit for 3-G (aggravated sentence) offenders. These offenders can show signs of maturity and rehabilitation and the state will not allow them to apply for parole.
Ms. Watts started three online petitions asking the State of Texas to reconsider these rules. Her goal is to collect over 50,000 signatures from people in the “free-world” so she can lobby city and state legislators to adopt each of the petitions as bills. Although these petitions are being directed to legislators in the State of Texas, she is asking everybody in the United States to participate. We believe that once Texas recognizes the need to change some of their policies, other states will follow suit.
It is our sincere wish that our followers will consider learning more about these petitions, sign them and pass the information on to family and friends. We pray that these petitions can help inmates, like Ms. Watts son, be able to apply for parole and be an asset to society instead of our tax dollars being spent to keep them behind bars.

Oh, God!!!

Since the beginning of time we have argued, fought and killed nations of people over a simple concept called religion. We have gone to war over religion. Generations of people have been wiped out over religion. Civilizations put to the knife and enslaved over this thought and calling of their ‘God”. When we finally realize that we are praying, worshipping and giving benediction to the same deity, will this problem go away? Most likely it won’t.
Every group of worshippers wants to be right. They want to hold their belief and systems over every other group. The simplicity of one god would take the complexity out of our lives. The assertion of one god leads denial of complexity, encouraging us to make the world simple. It is not the fault of our god, but the crime committed by the believers. Thus comes the existence of many gods, conveying true complexity of mortal life and the chance for one to dominate the next.
God has many faces and also many names, we can try to fool ourselves but the truth is before our eyes. Every race, tribe, village, country and continent prays to the same god; all different but the same. All these gods are aspects of the one true God. But, all these believers are convinced that their version is the correct one. All these magnificent, Holy books agree on nothing, but carry similar stories purporting the word of one God.
I try not to get caught up in who is and what is what but I DO know this, I feel for what our God has to go through. Imagine it, listening to billions of people’s prayers. Witnessing the masses kneeling in our Gods name but not believing the same thing. I probably would create many names and faces for myself so I would be less burdened too.
God is all knowing and now I believe, He is more intelligent than we can ever be. If one group of people actually knew or served the one, true God, wouldn’t his worshipers hold dominance over all? Hence, we fight and keep the lie going “O’ ye of little faith”!!!

Dissolute Democracy

Bimbos and reality shows, that’s what they fed out.
Killed all morals and principals. Yeah, they bled out.
This nice little Christian girl became a big slut.
Now she’s badly built with a big gut.
Turned into a “cool” dope addict with a billion dollar habit.
A good girl gone bad; so sad, so tragic.
American dreams turned into hellish illusions.
Hating on one another, caught up in conscious confusion.
We bully the weak while manipulating the meek.
Don’t stop to pray all week, then say it’s Heaven we seek.
What was once mortified is now glorified, daily.
Don’t like what I’m saying, get up on Facebook
and verbally slay me.
Look into the mirror and tell Jah what you see.
But you don’t have to lie to me.
Teachers being laid-off while prison systems flourish.
These athletes are paid millions but whom do they educate and nourish?
Politicians beefing harder than gangsta rappers in the booth.
One nation under God. Is that really the truth?
But, I’m sure I won’t be heard, I’m just a pawn in this game.
We complain about pain, but have no one else to blame…

Can I Get a Witness

We’re brothers of a different kind but of the same mind, un-blind.
They say we are public enemies, the epitome of what they don’t like.
Until you hear us, “Don’t Believe the Hype”…
The system hates that we are not spineless, won’t drink the Clorox
Un-torn, not mindless.
Considered rebels, the reasons are several. Number one: they can’t keep
us down, we’re on a level.
We won’t be like them and their kin, I’m choosing to move the masses to
action from my pen.
So when they hear me, they fear me: alarmed. These words I speak are
“Louder Than a Bomb”.
Thinking I’m organizing a radical mix, trying to wipe me out like
the party started in 66’.
I’m not Newton, Cleaver, Seale, Garvey, Nat, Martin, Malcolm or Mandela.
But the attitude I posses is quite stellar.
That’s why they label us gang-bangers, thugs, hooligans and racist.
Weary of the movement, they can’t face this…
They can salt us down, lie on us and spread their propaganda about our cause.
Still we remain, they cannot contain “A Rebel Without a Pause”…

My Struggle, My Shine…

Coming through the fire, I’m no longer in the game, I’ve grown tired.

Of running in the rat race, it’s time I find my happy place.

No more fussing and cussing, no need to justify my actions; end of discussion.

Time to care about me and mine, I’m done trying to change anyone else,

I’ve done my time.

With no appreciation, I am not a miracle worker.

My story will no longer be a tearjerker.

It will have a happy ending, way better than the beginning.

I have lived and I have learned, these stripes I have diligently earned.

But still, I carry my beauty, shining bright from within. Still determined to win.

But will be sure to do it in style. Look at my face; you won’t see a million miles.

From stress, making me look old. That’s why I have turned cold

to all the games and the lies.

You will see my story in my eyes, but it will be that of success.

As long as I keep being me, I will be blessed

in most things that I do. Trust and believe my words will remain true.

Sit and listen as I tell you my story, it will be about my strife and all about my glory…

I Am Mike Brown

This young lady is Payne’s cousin-in-law. She is full of fire and Konscious thoughts. She popped up on this blog sharing her feelings with us in rhyme. A true embodiment of her name, we introduce you to Sassy. We hope you will enjoy her insight and perspective from a woman’s view. Peace and Blessings, Isis Rain…

I am Mike Brown

I would have never known how treacherous the world could really be, till they shot down Mike Brown that could have been you, that could have been me, so I don’t feel protected by no means free.

Although I have a name, I’m just a number. Stuck in this ever failing system that is not built to protect us, instead it’s there quietly awaiting to get us caught up, so we won’t have enough money to put up a fuss.

I’m so scared as the tears constantly fall; I’m caught up in a system that wants me to fall.

I am frightened to death to raise my hand, fearing the retribution of the gunman’s plan.
I feel like a prisoner in my own house, I work too dang hard to keep a closed mouth.

What kind of system fails all the tests? A murdering system that could really care less.
Does not matter if you are right or if you are wrong, we deserve to live and carry on.

God I pray as I do each day, I hope my good hasn’t gone astray.
I’m tired of no action, we need to make rush, can’t let this system keep killing us.
I’m crying for justice I want satisfaction; lighten my burdens by bringing the action.

Don’t want to be a victim of circumstance caught up in a system that has no plan.

Konscious Kings – The Definition

Knowledge is power. It is everything a King knows.
Our strength can be measured by how much our mind grows.
No person should ever tell you that you cannot succeed.
Sometimes a positive word is all that you need.
Conscious thoughts will guide you and help you to get through.
Intelligence is the key in all that you do.
Over the course of time you will begin to see and understand God’s plan.
Using mind over matter is a divine ability.
Search within yourself to find that spark that will ignite the fire in your soul
that will connect you to the light.
Know and love thyself is the message we give to you.
Insight is a gift from God that shows you what is true.
Never be afraid to be greater than what you are.
Give life everything you got and you will shine brighter than a star.
Show courage and resilience, and to hope you should forever cling.
Stand tall and be proud to be called a Konscious King!

Konscious Effort

What I learned from self…
1) You can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.
2) It’s easier to react than to think.
3) Control your emotions and your attitude or it controls you.
4) It takes years to build trust and only seconds to destroy it.
5) That it has taken me a long time to become the person I want to be.

What I have learned from others…
1) Always leave loved ones with loving words, it may be the last time you see them.
2) That it is not what happens that is important, it’s what you do about it.
3) It is not about what you have in life but who you have in your life that counts.
4) Our circumstances and backgrounds may influence who we are but we are responsible for who we become.

What I have been shown…
1) You can keep going long after you think you can’t.
2) There are people who love you dearly but just don’t know how to show it.
3) That it isn’t always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.
4) No matter how far away I’ve been, the Creator loves me…

Just My Thoughts (until he comes home)

The Emergence of a Kween
When I first brainstormed the idea of Konscious Kings, my vision was to gather conscious minded men together to start a powerful conscious movement. I also dreamed of this movement being represented and carried by a group of women and young ladies that would be referred to as Konscious Kweens. They would showcase this movement from the woman’s perspective. That dream is now beginning to be manifested. With that being said, allow me to introduce you to the first lady of the Kingdom. A woman who embodies the love and grace of the Essence. A woman who’s story is full of pain and struggle but also of courage and strength. She is my friend, my comforter, my life partner and my wife. I am proud to introduce my Konscious Kween, Isis Rain. May her words and wisdom enlighten, encourage and inspire you.
Peace and Blessings,
Jah Soul

How can I keep my cool with this man that I love so much?
Sitting here looking at him while I am longing to feel his touch.
Not able to feel him but I am staring into his eyes.
Kind of like a dream but it’s so real and live.
Keeping my cool…It’s getting harder to control.
Every time I hear his voice, the sound touches my soul.
I hear him when I wake and before I go to sleep.
Whether I am awake or in a dream, my thoughts tell me
he’s the one to keep.
So, until the day I can be on his arm,
I will suppress my fears by knowing he means me no harm.
I will ease my mind as he keeps me whole,
so I can make love to his mind while I feed his soul…
